DRC Prime Minister met with governors of Haut-Katanga and Lualaba on exemptions on the suspension of processing mineral concentrates

The Prime Minister, Sylvestre Ilunga, had a working session, this Monday, August 24 at the Government building, with the governor of Lualaba, Richard Muyej Mangez Mans, and his colleague from Haut-Katanga, Jacques Kyabula Katwe, in the presence the Minister of Mines, Willy Kitobo.

“After a long debate, the Minister of Mines, Professor Willy Kitobo Samsoni, decided… to grant an indefinite exemption for cobalt hydroxides and carbonates, Alphamin tin concentrates and 3T concentrates [tin, tungsten and tantalum], ”the ministry said in a statement, reports Reuters Agency according to which this meeting was held on Saturday August 22 in Kinshasa with the miners.

This meeting allowed the two governors whose provinces are seated on important mining deposits of the DRC to inquire about the decision relating to the suspension of the moratorium on the processing and exports of minerals concentrated in these two provinces, reports the Communication Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Jacques Kyabula Katwe and Richard Muyej who provided additional information in relation to the management of this task. They requested to be consulted, each time decisions must be taken in this sector especially in accordance with the Mining Code for a proper application of these regulations and measures on the ground, said the Governor of Lualaba after the interview with Sylvestre Ilunga.
